KRIS METZGER

FOUNDER OF KRIS' POWER TUMBLING

Kris Metzger, a former U.S. Tumbling Association (USTA) National Coach of the Year, founded Kris' Power Tumbling out of a lifelong passion for the sport. From a young age, Kris dreamt of owning her own studio, despite growing up with limited resources. She started tumbling at age six at Jansen's Gym in Effingham, and her love for tumbling continued through school, where she also coached while still in high school.

In 1995, Kris opened her first gym in Cowden while attending Eastern Illinois University. As demand grew, she expanded to Shelbyville in 1997 and later moved her gym to a larger 16,000-square-foot facility. Kris attributes her gym's success to her passion for teaching and creating a family-oriented environment.

Her journey has not been without challenges. After the loss of her daughter, Riley, Kris created a memorial scholarship in her honor, supporting advanced students with lessons or college funding. Many of Kris' students have gone on to compete nationally and teach the next generation of athletes. Today, Kris' Power Tumbling continues to thrive with a dedicated team and a growing student base, all inspired by Kris’ love for tumbling and her commitment to her dream.
